Voxwire Creates A "Community and Debate Room" Option

April 5, 2003
For Immediate Release

Voxwire has added the ability for customers to set up their MeetingRoom™ utilizing the auto-queue and talk-timer to conduct automated discussions and debates. This makes it possible for content-driven websites such as sports, news, politics, health, and books to have live voice forums which are much more fun that text-chat. Schools can conduct intramural debates without requiring any travel.

The normal use of the MeetingRoom™ allows users to click in from anywhere in the world and listen to presentations, view web pages or slides, and use the text chat, depending on how the Room owner sets up the interaction components.

Guests click into a Community or Debate Room where they will see the rules and format posted on the view panel. If a person wants to speak, they will press their left Control key which automatically opens their microphone or places them in line. The auto-queue feature lines participants up in the order in which they pressed their key. The organizer can set the talk-timer to 30 or 60 seconds, or however long it is desired to allow the speaker at any one given time, and when the speaker's time is over, the next person in line moves to the top of the list and has the floor. Text chat can be enabled or disabled, depending on the organizer's choice.

Steve Divnick, VP of Marketing, predicts that this format will become very popular political candidates and town hall events. This will allow candidates to gain exposure on a large scale without depending on television stations. Local organizers can give their constituents a voice with town hall meetings, and the candidate can log in from wherever they are with some rallying encouragement.
