Before
using any Voxwire MeetingRoom, please ensure that your digital headset is properly
connected to your computer.
Identifying the digital headset plug
Your digital headset has a standard USB connector at
the end of the cord and connects to your computer in a standard USB port.
What is USB?
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. It is the newest way to connect
computer peripherals to your computer. You can connect up to 127 USB products
to your
computer simultaneously.
Below is a picture of what the back of your computer
might look like. Most computers with Windows 98 SE or higher have USB ports.
USB connectors are peripheral connections that come with most newer PCs. They
simplify adding devices such as your Digital/USB Headset, which sometimes
could require complex installation and configuration. The connectors make it
easier to configure
your Digital/USB Headset
because when it is plugged in, it should be configured automatically.
What are the benefits of a Digital/USB headset?
There are two main reasons for using Digital/USB headsets. First, many
computers usually have less powerful soundcards that require additional power
and battery
adapters. By using a USB headsets, the soundcard is bypassed and therefore will
not
be
an issue.
Second, using USB headsets provides digital quality sound. Digital/USB Headsets
surpass
typical computer headsets by using digital rather than analog technology.
USB connections are true digital connections that provide a pure,
high quality audio signal. Sound processed through analog sound cards can introduce
distortion
as the sound signal is processed and converted from analog to digital. For
performance sensitive applications such as Voice over the Internet (VoIP),
Digital/USB headsets should provide superior performance.
By delivering a high quality audio signal directly to the computer's motherboard
using the USB socket, significant improvements can be made to the overall performance
nd quality of your voice while using the Voxwire MeetingRooms.
Can
I connect my Analog Headset to a USB connector?
Yes, there are Analog-to-Digital USB Adapters available from Andrea Electronics
and Emkay.
These adapters works with any headset (including monaural and stereo)
originally designed for PC sound card input/output. It is supported by all
versions of
Windows 98 and higher, and requires no additional software drivers. By utilizing
one of these adapters, the need for sound cards is eliminated.
This is a cost-effective solution that makes any legacy analog microphone
headset compatible with USB-enabled PCs.
The best position for the microphone
The microphone should be the width of two fingers away from your mouth for
best reception.
